America's Choice for Today's Business

For many Americans, the economic landscape has forever changed.

Fond are the not long-ago memories of financial flamboyance: a period where the pursuit of personal financial freedom overlooked important task-oriented details. Over-confident business transactions (that would argue were based on dreams or their hopeful attainment) had little homage for traditional “restrictive” financial measures or performance guidelines.

We seem to be entering now a time of stern accountability. This is not the same accountability that brought down giants like Enron - in that period accountability seemed to come after the fact. This new dawn demands that financial accountability be done upfront and prior to approval. No more daring experiments to see what may happen. Rather, desired conclusions will need to be first justified and then fought for prior to extending any financial commitment.  It is likely that this new cautious era will have its pendulum too eventually swing to its extreme: less ‘creativity’ and more emphasis on tried-and-true process and procedure.

This is a cautious time. This is a time where, despite record low interest rates, funds are ironically tight. Funds are tight because much of our resources are directed toward addressing debt: how to pay it down, how to manage it, and how to perhaps eliminate it altogether - done while balancing the need to invest funds for future returns.

We anticipate this new cycle to be long-lasting.

Who are the anticipated winners in this new era? It would appear that the winners in this impending era will be those engaged in detailed research, mostly occurring behind the scenes. Projects and loans that are made in this new time will be expected to be solid performers with predictable returns. New economic endeavors, like the soon-to-be famous NY/NJ Tunnel Project, will be initially laborious, but will have long-term social benefits that a more flamboyant time would not likely produce.

Quality wins. Procedural method wins. Attention to detail wins. Security wins. Transforming tangibles wins. Research wins. Practicality wins. Proof wins. Standards win. Excellence wins. Stubbornness wins. Tenacity wins. Perseverance wins. Planning wins. Focus wins. Persistence wins. Discipline wins.
